Other experience
Irmeli has practical experience in design protection since 1991. She is familiar with preparing design applications and with their processing and registration all over the world, and has strong consulting expertise in counterfeit cases. She has been in charge of global design protection, registration portfolio and protection strategy for a large mobile telephone company, working as an attorney in all Finnish, European and WIPO applications and registrations and in related oppositions and appeals up to the highest appellate levels. Irmeli has also long experience in working as a lawyer at the Trademarks and Designs Line of the Finnish Patent Office. She has also worked as processor of design appeals at the Office’s Board of Appeal.

Irmeli has given a number of lectures and introductions on design protection in various courses and seminars in Finland and abroad, and has worked as a consultant issuing statements during the preparation of designs legislation and for textbooks in the field.
