Energy technology

The concept of energy technology is broad because it can be understood as covering all forms of production and use of energy in the society. Systems which can be applied to the production, trasmission, distribution and use of energy are being developed in the energy technology. It studies the efficiency and safety of the systems as well as their economic and environmental impacts.

Energy technology includes for example the domains of heating, plumming and ventilation engineering, power plant engineering and wind power technology. In particular, the importance of wind power has considerably increasd during the past few years and it has become one of the most fastly developing means for producing electricity. Compared to the 1990's, the production of wind power has grown for about 25-30% each year. Due to the increase in general environmental awareness, alternative forms of energy are being developed more and more. This development is visible in the number of inventions relating to energy technology.
