Software engineering

Software engineering is a branch of information technology which studies software development and related questions. Software today are considerably more extensive and complex than before, and the modern software do not necessarily involve any numerical calculation.

The need for patenting software-oriented inventions is increasing. At present, it is possible to apply for a patent for software and computer programmes in the USA and Japan. However for the time being, computer programmes are not considered patentable in Finland.
