ASIKAINEN MARTTA

Patent Attorney

Martta Asikainen is a patent attorney at Papula-Nevinpat.

Before beginning to work with patents, Martta has made a 10-year career as a researcher at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and later as Chief IP and Innovation Officer in a Finnish bioplastics startup. She has a Master of Science (Technology) degree in chemical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry.

Martta’s special expertise covers products and innovations related to bioeconomy and circular economy, and protection of such innovations with patents. She is author and inventor in over 20 scientific publications and patent applications dealing with innovations and processes in the field from the catalysis, process chemistry, organic synthesis chemistry and polymer chemistry viewpoints.

Martta has several years of practical experience in a startup’s IP needs, IP strategy and requirements for commercializing new products. She is familiar with the needs and questions startup companies may have concerning IP rights.
