European Patent Attorney

Gustav Boije af Gennäs is a European Patent Attorney at Papula-Nevinpat.

Gustav entered the IP field in 2017 when he was employed at a Finnish patent attorney firm. Before that he’s had a meritorious career of 16 years as a researcher at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), the Department of Chemistry at the University of Helsinki, and as a postdoctoral researcher in Academy of Finland funded projects. Gustav also served for several years as a leader and principal investigator of Drug Discovery group in the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology of the University of Helsinki.

His special expertise covers medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry. In addition, Gustav has a strong interdisciplinary competence in bioanalysis, biochemistry, and inorganic chemistry. Significant projects from Gustav’s research career include an Academy of Finland funded project for developing new organic compounds against cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. In another significant Academy of Finland project, Gustav’s group developed new bioanalytical technologies. Gustav has also studied compounds against Parkinson’s disease and developed stem cell inducing compounds for the treatment of stroke and myocardial infraction.

Gustav is named as inventor in two patents, has over 40 scientific publications, has taught at over 15 university courses and supervised several doctoral candidates.

For his meritorious career as a researcher, the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters and the University of Helsinki presented to Gustav successful young researcher’s awards in 2016.
