Important changes to the trademark official fee structure in Russia

30.9.2025

Starting 4 October 2025, the official fees for examining a trademark application and renewal in Russia will change, with significant adjustments to the official fees for both examination and renewal.

The Russian Patent Office is introducing a new system where fees will be calculated based on the number of goods/services claimed, marking a significant change from the previous flat-rate approach.

Official substantive examination fee for trademarks

  • RUB 13,000 for the first class of ICGS, plus RUB 2,500 for each additional class (this remains unchanged).
  • An additional RUB 500 for each item in the list of goods/services exceeding 10 in each claimed class.

Official renewal fee for trademarks

  • RUB 22,000 for up to five classes covered by the trademark registration, plus RUB 2,000 for each additional class (this remains unchanged).
  • An additional RUB 500 for each item in the list of goods/services exceeding 10 in each claimed class.

The filing fees will remain unchanged.

In addition to the existing class-based charges, a new surcharge of RUB 500 will be applied for each goods or service listed beyond 10 items per class, both during the substantive examination of trademark applications and at the renewal stages.

Currently, there is no official announcement on the Russian Patent Office website; however, it is expected to be published soon.
